The DMA Equipment Desk will be closed beginning Wed Mar 18 until further notice. You should work with your professors to arrange equipment needs while the university moves to remote instruction.
The DMA computer labs remain open for use. This includes BML 21, BML 10, DRH 5, and DRH 8. These labs have the software necessary for DMA coursework.

Around this time last year, Chloé McElmury (DMA 2019) founded Thycan Survivors as part of her DMA senior project with a mission to “more accurately represent the survivorship of thyroid cancer by increasing thoughtful awareness, advocacy, and understanding.” Chloé applied the graphic design skills she learned and practiced in DMA to develop a project that has had greater positive impact on people than she initially envisioned. Since exhibiting her work at the DMA Senior Showcase last May, Thycan Survivors has gained over 2200 followers on Instagram and shared over 50 survivor stories from people around the world. She’s also been featured on the Thyroid Transitions blog, where you can learn more about her work and experience as a survivor of thyroid cancer. In the future, Chloé plans to expand upon this work by producing podcasts, organizing survivor-based programming, and holding fundraisers. Check out her work below and show your support!

We’re excited to announce the 5th annual Open Studios! Open Studios is an exhibition of student artwork curated by Fine Arts faculty held in the spirit of an art crawl. The show covers a wide range of media, from augmented reality to printmaking to zines. New to the event this year are readings by Creative Writing students, music performance, and collaborative projects by the Critical Digital Media Theory class in English. Other work includes virtual reality, Stefan Kinsinger’s DMA senior project, Sophie Skilbred’s “binaural ears” recording device made in the DMA MakerLab, and dreamBot, an interactive work by DMA professors Gumiela and Ryan. All are welcome–come out of the cold and crawl with us!
